Found it. Another typo in autoup.sh:
DEVPACKAGES=$( dpkg --get-selections .....
[...]
RM_LIST="$DEV_PACKAGES $PKGS_RM"
Note the difference between DEVPACKAGES and DEV_PACKAGES
