Re: Splitting the distribution over several CDs



Hmm... no package in main should depend on a package in contrib, so we
have an initial way to split up the disk correct?  Eventually (if not now)
we will need to split up main.  Perhaps this can be as easy as main-1,
main-2, ... where each one must fit on a cdrom and any package in main-1
does not depend on a package in main-2.  This way it's always a sequential
one time pass through the disk in the worst case.

Mirror sites could merge these sections together so someone doesn't have
to look through all the different main-? directories.  

A packages file for all the main sections could be placed on main-1 so the
user doesn't have to go though all the disk to let deity know what they
have and individual packages files could be on the disk for dselect (or
another method could be made for dselect).
