I put it there because when I tested it on my system, it killed
all the .fonts and Fontmap files (X and gs without fonts until
reinstall...) Next version will go in 2.1 unstable.

dtm will include a coomand line program and a gui to do what
type1inst does. But at now dtm is in a very alpha stage, where
type1inst is fully useable. I think there is no overlap at now
and type1inst is the better short term solution.
