kernel or syskold not supporting flavours

Manoj, maybe you remember I told yu something about messages on my
screen talking about system map not found. I didn't look at any
source, but investigated a bit further.

When you do a "/etc/init.d/sysklod restart", you get the following in
/var/log/messages:

[for a kernel with $(uname -r)=="2.0.30"]

Mar  8 11:00:02 bylbo syslogd 1.3-3#24: restart.
Mar 8 11:00:03 bylbo kernel: Loaded 2845 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.0.30.
Mar 8 11:00:03 bylbo kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.0.30.
Mar 8 11:00:03 bylbo kernel: Loaded 42 symbols from 2 modules.

[for a kernel with $(uname -r)=="2.0.33-std"]

Mar  8 10:36:59 bylbo syslogd 1.3-3#24: restart.
Mar 8 10:36:59 bylbo kernel: Cannot find map file.
Mar 8 10:36:59 bylbo kernel: Loaded 42 symbols from 2 modules.

As I don't think much things where changed in the kernel between
2.0.3[03], I'd think the problem comes from the flavour in the version
number.

[I use unpatched unstream kernels]

My interpretation of the log is that in response to syslogd connecting
to whatever it needs in the kernel, the latter tries to load the map
file, but badly constructs the filename.

However, it may well be {sys,k}logd sending messages telling "I'm
kernel" after trying to load this map file.

Probably someone should investigate that.
