Thanks!
That shows me that the PATH is:
/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:.

This explains why ifconfig didn't work, but it doesn't expain the error
for the man command.

Any idea what the error means? Why would "No space left on device" be
delivered as an error for stdout?

I don't know if this has any bearing on the matter, but I have recently
been running the 2.1.59 kernel. Is it possible that this is the culprit?
Currently when I leave X to return to a text console, I see the error
message 'Ugh at c010ffa8' from the kernel. Any idea what that's about?

Thanks for the pointers,

Dwarf
