libc6 version of "last"?

I like use the program "last" for occasional checks on who has logged
into my system. After upgrading to the unstable distribution I have
found that the output from last is complete gerble.
 $ last

I presume this is because the version of last on my system is a libc5
version.
 $ type last
 last is /usr/bin/last
 $ ldd /usr/bin/last
	 libc.so.5 => /lib/libc.so.5 (0x4000b000)
 $ dpkg -S /usr/bin/last
 sysvinit: /usr/bin/last
 $ dpkg -s sysvinit
 Package: sysvinit
 Essential: yes
 Status: install ok installed
 Priority: required
 Section: base
 Installed-Size: 172
 Maintainer: Miquel van Smoorenburg <miquels@cistron.nl>
 Version: 2.71-2
 Replaces: last, bsdutils (<= 2.0-2)
 Pre-Depends: libc5 (>= 5.4.0-0)
 Conflicts: last
 ...

Is there a fix or should I just wait until a libc6-based sysvinit
package is available?
