But I already did it!

Andreas, you didn't throw all my kde work away did you? Old kde packages
came with a debian menu system menu-methods file that generate .kdelnk files
for all debian packages. It also came with menu files for the kde apps, etc.
The kdelnk files were stored in a hierarcical directory tree in /var, so you
end up with nice hierarhical kde menus just like you get with any other
package using the debian menu system.
