Nice to know I was not the only one who did that.. The simplest way to
correct this is boot Linux from your second installation, mount your
normal (ie hosed) installation under /mnt and do this:
dpkg --root=/mnt --install libreadline2_2.1-2.dev
And then reboot the system. Worked for me!
