Well - it sounds like you might have a problem with a configuration
file that worked before and doesn't now.   pppd works for me.

Eventually, rex is going to be removed - so you will have a problem
then.  Either you will have to debug and fix your problem, or 
keep a version of rex around on CD.  (Maybe you just have to keep
a version of the pppd package around)

Maybe someone will volunteer to keep rex around - but I wouldn't 
count on it.  That's what CDs are for.  As for me, I don't mind if 
rex is removed - since I've upgraded all my systems to "bo".
