What I usually do is just hit enter and accept the defaults suggested by
you. I never had any issue with mime not working as far as I can tell.
Never bothered to read the certainly elaborate docs and I must truly
confess that I do not care what mime is or how its to be configured as
long as everything is working on my system.

In its current state the package is quite confusing for newbies and guys
like me who are really not interested in the details tend to get
unnerved after installing/upgrading the third or fourth machine.
