adpkg

I just had a small problem building a package. Then I remembered that some
time ago, I had installed adpkg, and someone had said something about
incompatibilities.

So, do I still have the thing installed? Yes. Ok, remove it and see if the
problem goes away.

Hey, it claims it's essential. Urgh. Look at the help for removing essential
packages; plan a bug report.

Ok, gone. Now let's see ...

WHAT? Why is there no /usr/bin/dpkg? I didn't ever remove dpkg!

Look in /var/lib/dpkg/info/dpkg.list ... oh hell, apparently adpkg used
replaces.

Ok, get the .nodebbin, extract to the local dir, install missing binaries,
install dpkg.

Look at adpkg:

Description: Alternate Package maintenance system for Debian Linux
This package contains the programs which handle the installation and
removal of packages on your system.
  .
  The primary interface for the dpkg suite is the `dselect' program;
a more low-level and less user-friendly interface is available in
the form of the `dpkg' command.
  .
This package is building on the regular dpkg package and adds
some functionality and augments other stuff.

Yes, it's true. He replaces dpkg, but he claims to build on it. It's lying.

[ looking at the archive ]

It's obviously a patched dpkg. Replaces everything in dpkg.

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!

Christoph, I want to kill you. Very slow and painfully.
