A lot of the installation and usage problems with the old debian tex
come from the fact that there are many small packages that are
maintained by different people.  On the other hand one major advantage
of Debian is the possibility of modularization.  A compromise has to be
reached.  

I think the current tetex division is rather acceptable and doesn't
present too much work for the maintainer.   I wouldn't like to see
tetex being split up to more than 10 packages, say.
