I already filed a bug report, so I'll remember to put them into
contrib in the meantime. There are really only 2 packages misplaced -
nedit-[sd]motif and xtar-[sd]motif.

A virtual package sounds like the right thing to do - Does `motif' or
maybe `motifimplementation' sound ok?
Speaking of which, it would be nice if someone would write a
localvirtuals package which could make it easier to provide local
packages. There are always people who have local (beta) copies of
emacs, or motif in this case, or a few other things and are not sure
how to satisfy dependencies.
The easiest interface would be to just call a program
localvirtualconfigure which will call EDITOR on
/var/lib/localvirtual/list, and then build an empty package which
provides the things in that list. Does anyone else see a need for
something like that?
