well, INFODIR doesn't show up[1] in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config, and that's
the only place xmkmf looks local info -- so the bug is likely to be in
the Imakefile in the original package... can you quote the lines that
refer to INFODIR in that?

[1] in xdevel 3.1.2-4; I haven't checked 3.2 yet.
