That would be better, though it requires modifying stftime,
which is in libc. There's a strftime.c in the source of sh-utils,
but that is obviously the wrong place to modify it.

That'd be guaranteed English abbreviations for weekdays and
months, not something that depends on locale.

Alas, I don't have time to start hacking on libc. I'll send a note
to the glibc/libc6 people and ask if they want to do it.
