Bug#4946: libc5 5.4.7 doesn't include shlibs file
Package: libc5
Version: 4.5.7-1
The package doesn't include a shlibs control file:
cjf@www:/home/ftp/debian/rex/binary/base$ dpkg -I libc5_5.4.7-1.deb
new debian package, version 2.0.
size 250956 bytes: control archive= 535 bytes.
342 bytes, 12 lines control
131 bytes, 10 lines * postinst #!/bin/sh
52 bytes, 5 lines * preinst #!/bin/sh
PACKAGE: libc5
SECTION: base
SOURCE: libc5
DESCRIPTION: The Linux C library version 5 (run-time libraries).
Includes shared libraries needed to run programs built with libc 5.
MAINTAINER: David Engel <david@ods.com>
VERSION: 5.4.7-1
PRE-DEPENDS: ldso (>=1.7.14-2)
CONFLICTS: elf-libc
REPLACES: elf-libc
PROVIDES: elf-libc
ARCHITECTURE: i386
This is a serious bug because rumor is that packages built under this
library may not run properly under 5.2.7. I suggest that the shlibs
file read as follows:
libc 5 libc5 (>=5.4.7-1)
Let me know if I'm wrong about this.
