New libc and ldconfig

I have just installed the new libc packages 5.4.7
and the new ldso package 1.8.3-1. Now I get messages
about inconsistent sonames like this
ldconfig: warning: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so has inconsistent soname (libXt.so.6), skipping

Is this supposed to happen?? I took a couple of the X ones out to test
things and the messages disappears but then I can't compile anything
that uses the library that I deleted the link for.

Any help would be appreciated.
