Re: where is compress ?

FYI - a month ago I claimed

About 3 weeks ago I submitted the patches to the X Consortium; I
haven't heard if they've been accepted, but I have tested them; the X
fonts shrink by about 2M total, but more importantly the compress code
is gone (turns out there was only one place, lib/font/fontfile, that
was actually *used*...)

If it looks like X11R6.2 will go out without these changes, I'll send
them directly to the XFree86 team. If the compress patent issue is
important enough for debian, I'll work with the package maintainer to
get it integrated there directly (otherwise it's easier to just wait
for it to propagate through.)
