dialog and the boot floppies

I linked electric fence into "dialog" and fixed the first 6 or 7
segmentation faults I saw, made it abort if it failed to allocate a
window rather than just segmentation faulting, and hacked the auto-size
routine to not return a too-big window.

"dialog-0.9a" is a hack on top of a hack on top of a hack. Really nasty.
We need something better.
