Bug#3093: Perl dumps core

I have compiled my own version of Perl 4, which seems able to cope
with the script without crashing.  It's just as well that I haven't
yet taken the time to learn Perl 5 properly and start using its new
features ...

The urgency is therefore no longer present; I'll continue my work on
moving the bug system across and make an announcement when it's ready.
