Aaargh, no !  The rc?.d directories are for things that need to change
when the runlevel changes, not for boot-time initialisation.

It needs to stay in rc.boot.

rc.boot isn't mentioned anywhere in the guidelines that I can see.

Would the sysvinit maintainer care to write a paragraph or two,
perhaps to be added to /etc/init.d/README ?
