Bug#2829: emacs: gdb says: slashes aren't allowed (/etc/termcap)
> No! As I said before, dashes a perfectly legal delimiters in termcap files.
> If something needs fixing it's probably ncurses!
Boy, but am I getting tired of this.
I _really_ wish people would quit having this knee-jerk reaction of,
"Oh, it must be ncurses" anytime something goes wrong with Emacs.
For the record, the 1.9.8a release of ncurses has had two major
problems (and I spent most of my day closing old ncurses bugs, so
trust me on this): 1) infelicitous keymaps in some terminals (notably
xterm), and 2) a tendency to turn off line-wrap (again, in notably in
xterms).
And just to make sure I've made my point, while ncurses has its share
of bugs, IF IT MENTIONS /etc/termcap, IT'S NOT NCURSES, BECAUSE
NCURSES DOESN'T TOUCH THE BLOODY FILE. ncurses under Debian is
terminfo-only.
Cheers,
Mike.
