Re: Bug#2703: apache: wrong location of icons and cgi-bins
Hi,
I think that installation of new CGI programs, icons, and
general HTML files is closer to the case of installing local lisp
files for emacs or local perl packages, not like installing new
binaries from debian packages. Maybe there should be created
/usr/local/sbin/cgi-bin and /usr/local/etc/icons (stub directories,
empty) by the package, and in the httpd.conf file add scripalias and
alias fields so that /cgi-lbin and /images-local/ map to the
usr/local/ stub directories -- and document that that's where site
can put local stuff (where is the document root now, anyway?)
I don't think that these belong in either /var or /usr.
