More cern-httpd and apache
After some examination of both cern-httpd and apache, most of the name
changes are pretty straight forward. There's one area of potential
conflict though, and that's in the /usr/sbin directory.
apache has:
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 111593 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/httpd
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 7635 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/htpasswd
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 4437 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/dbmmanage
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 13778 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/logresolve
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 5626 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/inc2shtml
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 4993 Feb 21 10:45 1996 usr/sbin/unescape
while cern-httpd has:
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 282628 Jul 20 00:29 1995 usr/sbin/httpd
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 28676 Jul 20 00:29 1995 usr/sbin/cgiparse
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 16388 Jul 20 00:29 1995 usr/sbin/cgiutils
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 16388 Jul 20 00:29 1995 usr/sbin/htadm
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 31089 Jul 20 00:29 1995 usr/sbin/httpdconfig
Now, the two httpd's aren't that difficult - just rename them
to their package name. The others don't conflict right now,
but I'm concerned about future additions. The problem is that
I don't feel that I can rename cgiparse or cgiutils, because
they're used in user scripts. (In fact, they probably belong in
/usr/bin, now that I think about it.)
Any ideas about this kind of thing? Or am I creating a problem where
non exists?
Comments?
