Having them pre-exist in the password file is the best thing we can
do, then. You'd have less of an excuse if you collided with them.

I'd prefer string ID attributes, instead of these integers with a file to
map them. Something like "bruce@pixar.com" as the owner-ID attached to my
directory would be just fine. Unix is nice, but it can be improved upon.
Our mission is to make the best of it for now :-) .
