When I try using M-$ in Emacs (ispell-word) it tells me
FORMATED is correct because of root FORMATE

There is no word `formate' (and if there were it ought to be a noun
meaning the result when something has formed), and so `formated' is
wrong. In fact, it would usually be a misspelling of `formatted'.

When I installed ispell I asked for the British English dictionary.

Ian.
