You might also be interested in the discussion about "what is source for artwork" from last year which demonstrated a rich culture of diversity in answering this question. https://wiki.debian.org/Games/Source This is actually a quite complex and controversial topic with many different opinions. You can find various games in the archive that deal with a significant amount of game content and they all handle source files for artwork differently. The best way is to ship all sources (e.g. GIMP files) for your artwork in one or more source package(s). In this extreme case of 3 GB source data I would also consider it sufficient if the data was available at a reliable remote repository and this was documented in the Debian package (e.g. README.source). Most importantly, I would only start to worry about this issue, if you found your sponsor/mentor, then I'm sure that you can find a solution together with him or her. Regards, Markus
