Sure, the door is always open. Please keep in mind that we need some
time to verify if the new release is suitable for a stable release
though. Deadline for Ubuntu 14.10 is August the 7th btw. So a new
release should happen a few weeks before that.

Since we speak about games it may often take months until users report
bugs for a certain version and if some serious flaw is discovered after
the freeze, and more than a one-liner is needed to fix it, we face the
risk that the game might be dropped from the next stable release.

Another option: We could also ship 0.4 for Jessie and provide 0.7 in
jessie-backports.

I think my biggest concern is that the contrib courses in
"tuxracer-extras" are no longer supported by 0.6. I also didn't find any
documentation for how one can convert old courses or create new ones. I
have asked this question twice before. [1] [2] Do you intend to support
this feature again, maybe for 0.7?
