No, as I'm pretty sure the author did it in good faith. Unfortunately,
being a good developer doesn't give you a thorough understanding of
copyright and licensing... If you can contact somehow the original
author, you might get him to relicense his code under LGPL and release a
new version. (but see below)

I suggest you tag the ITP as wontfix and post a link to the
debian-games thread to make it clear that we can't package for licensing
reasons.

Hmmmm... That's a real pity, this.
I guess it's too much trouble packaging that for Debian while it seems
old, unportable and relying on not very clean code.
That's too bad for gearhead.
