My intention to put it on devel was not to win, but to get it fixed.
Perhaps debian-qa would be also an apropriate place.

And this is the point: If everyone knows there is a grave bug, everyone
could keep an eye on it - especially people using the architectures in
question.  My initial mail was especially adressed to those porters who got
many programs working on all these different architectures.

Sam Hocevar might prove me right here. (Thanks to Sam!)
His patch also fixes the problem on Sparc.  I'm going to increase the
severity of the bug again to grave not to bother you but tho give the
package a chance to make it's way into woody (which it would not otherwise).
A quick look into the code of Aide 0.8 seemed that the patch can be
backported.
