I don't understand how you get "automaken". emacs -> emacsen is a
parallel to ox -> oxen. I don't think English has any "-ake" words
that become "-aken" in the plural.
There is a possible parallel with "take" -> "taken", but that would
make automaken an adjective. ("This package is automaken, but it
doesn't work with the latest version.")
Is that what you mean?
