I really suggest you read the archives. Yes loopback mounts have a problem
but so do quotas, nfs mounts and several other things. To make the kernel
support in memory every possible setup that mount can produce involves
making a virtual file that mount can write anything it like to. And the
kernel developers won't agree to that.
