OK I have added a twist... everything I propose upto now plus if you
really need serial stuff early you can configure it yourself and put it
/etc/serial.conf yourself. I have build two setserial entries in
rcS.d to do this - one which runs early and one late on if you want to
use stuff after nfs mounts are made. Early one runs if you have
/etc/serial.conf, and the late one runs if you dont. Seems like the
best of all worlds.
I am just testing the new package arrangement now, but it will take a few
hours due to the large number of conf name changes I had to make. Should
be ok though.
