It looks very interesting. Our script is much much simpler, especially
after moving the configuration staff to the other script (it now just
calls ssh-keygen, ntpdate and update-rc.d).

No, it currently does not use debconf.

Sounds like a good idea. In our case as we are moving from a cloned
deployment to a installer based one, the importance of that info
vanishes, but sounds like a valuable info as general knowledge about
Debian for many other projects.
