Wouldn't it be easier to move the public part of the repository to a
different location and just export that?  I do that for my private
repository which looks like this:

  bin
  conf
  db
  incoming
  pub/dists
  pub/pool
  tmp

You just need "outdir +b/pub" in conf/options for this.
