Most of the times, Debian packaging is not about coding, but about
organising, publishing, integrating, motivating .. sounds all to fit
quite nicely :)

But as a non-uploading DD you do not help the aims of siduction. Berlin
is rather densely covered with DDs. Start contacting someone on
       http://wiki.debian.org/Keysigning/Offers
who may then help you with additional contacts on their side to
propel you forward.
I know most of the active Berlin DDs, we tried to get Debconf11 to Berlin.

I do not get it. The technical infrastructure scales. If you are good,
then you contribute to the manpower side with whatever you are doing.
If you need time from other contributors to Debian that is distracting
them too much or that they find irritating, then I have little doubt
they will tell you upfront. It is Berlin after all ..(have lived
there) .. :)
I might be having a misconception here, but what i know is, that its been a long and winding road until today, where relations between Debian and its derivatives are on a friendly level. In the days when we set out with sidux, things were quite different, and i was called all kinds of names, trying to promote the idea of a distribution based on unstable. So i might be a bit overcautios in that respect.

regards
Ferdinand
