In principle, you are true. One of the reasons that I pushed the
debian-blends-tasks.desc in spring already was that we can see whether
this solution is a good compromise, of if we need to do further changes.

For the moment, I don't see pluggable UI widgets as an option anymore:
this would either mean to rewrite much of tasksel, or to add another
step (--> a new program/package) to the installer. With the ongoing
freeze, this doesn't sound realistic. For Buster, we should think about
a significant tasksel change, however.
