Hi all, * Helmut Grohne <helmut@subdivi.de> [2023-06-02 09:03]:
I think we basically have three options at hand here. [many useful insights omitted]
This email is one of many examples where debian-cross gives very helpful advice regarding Multi-Arch, and I feel all this knowledge should be distilled into a document such as "Multi-Arch FAQ for Maintainers". Right now, I know of the Multi-Arch specification, of course, a guide on how to convert library packages to be Multi-Arch compliant, bits and pieces on Multi-Arch for cross-building, and a few more bits and pieces in the HOWTO. What I find missing are concise answers to maintainer-centric questions such as "how do I determine that my package is safe for Multi-Arch: foreign" or "why do I need to (not) add :native or :any to this Build-Depend". Is there something like that? And if not, would anyone be interested in helping me compile such an FAQ, ideally with some instructive use-cases that have come up on debian-cross?
