Debian 的通信论□是相当痛苦的事。在他发信后没多久，Alberto Gonzalez Iniesta

【DPL 选举最新消息】 Manoj Srivastava 发出本次 Debian 计画领导人[3]选举的最后
一次[4]投票通知。大约 50 % 的 Debian 开发人员已经投完票，其馀未投票者在03月29
日前都还是可以投票。Manoj 也对大量因为格式不合而遭系统退回的选票相当[5]关切
，并且以人工的方式检查这些选票。虽然最多人[6]使用 Mutt，但是在 140 张被退回的
选票中，并没有任何一封是用 Mutt 发的。此外，候选人之一的 Moshe Zadka 发了一封
[7]信表明他不信任由计画秘书做选票统计，并要求找一个独立的 Debian 开发人员来负
责这件事。

【Trusted Debian 计画】 [8]Trusted Debian 计画的目标是要建立一个高度安全并且
可用的 GNU/Linux 平台。本计画将一些现有的 GNU/Linux 解决方案（如核心的修补、
编译器的修补、安全性相关的程式及技术等）整合成一个高度安全的 GNU/Linux 平台。
Trusted Debian 的安装方式是对 Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 做[9]更新，加上堆叠保护
（stack execution protection）、位址空间编排随机化（address space layout
randomization）、FreeS/WAN，以及一些较新的安全升级。

【Mozilla 函式库的问题】 Josselin Mouette [10]谈到 Mozilla
在处理函式库的方式上的[11]难题。这些函式库没有 SONAME，并且只有
Mozilla（和 Galeon）在使用它们。放在 /usr/lib 下的函式库都必须要有
SONAME，因此，这些函式库不应该被放在那里。如果为它们加上
SONAME，会造成和其它厂商的函式库不相容。但是若把它们移到别的地方，又会让连
结程式（linker）找不到这些函式库。

【Bug Squashing Party 的成果】 Bas Zoetekouw 发信[12]感谢上周末参与
[13]bug squashing party 的朋友们，并列出此次活动的成果。根据 [14]IRC
记录，参与者约有 30 人。他们制作了 58 个套件，并把它们放到
incoming/DELAYED 中。这些套件总共解决了 89 个 bug。不过，令人遗憾的是，
影响发行（release-critical） 的 bug 还有 789 个之多。

【支援档案系统标签】 Theodore Ts'o [15]说他计画要发表一个新的共用函式库
（shared library）libblkid。这个函式库是用来读取 UUID= 和 LABEL=
的内容。因为它会使用并维护一个快取档（cache file），大家开始[16]讨论这个档
案是应该放在 /etc 还是 /var 中。

【Rebel NetWinder 上的 Debian】 Dan "overridex" McCombs 向大家[17]说明他如何
在 Rebel NetWinder 3100 上安装 Debian 3.0（woody）。在小小的灰色和暗蓝色外壳
中，这一款电脑使用一个 Transmeta Crusoe 处理器并搭配 128MB 的记忆体。原本预
装的系统是 Red Hat Linux，但是 Dan 比较偏好 Debian，因为后者有不错的稳定性和
简单的安全升级方式。他在文中详细地说明了安装 Debian 的步骤。

【为甚么『分享原始码』不同于『开放原始码』】
虽然在许多地方已经讨论了相当长一段时间，Robin 'Roblimo' Miller
[18]认为大家都忽略了『开放原始码』（Open Source）和『分享原始码』（Shared
Source）最根本的不同之处。他说，你可以修改开放原始码软体来配合你的硬体（或
其它软体），但是分享原始码却只让你修改你的硬体（或其它软体）来配合分享原始
码软体。他在总结中指出，我们正在经历一段软体授权快速改革的时期，但『分享原
始码』和『开放原始码』在本质上是完全不同的。

【Sid 终于纳入完整的 KDE】 [19]Debian Planet 报导 KDE 3.1.1
的最后几个部份被纳入 unstable（sid）套件档案库了。kdepim 和 kdenetwork
这两个套件，在上周因为一些授权方面的小问题而[20]无法顺利进入
sid。这些问题现在已经被解决，这两个套件也顺利被纳入档案库中。在此同时，KDE

【侦测预设的浏览器】 Xavier Roche [22]询问在 Debian
系统上侦测预设浏览器的最好方式是什么。有人[23]指出 sensible-browser
就是要用来做这件事的，不过 John Goerzen
[24]认为不该用这样的系统预设值，因为这样等于强迫所有的使用者使用 root
偏好的浏览器。David B. Harris [25]解释说 sensible-browser 是用来让 Debian
开发者判断预设浏览器的。它利用一些惯用的来源来判断该用哪个程式。用

【新手的 Debian 体验】 [26]Digital Drip 上有一篇文章描述新手[27]安装及[28]
设定 Debian 的经验。一开始，作者对 Debian 的印象就和许多未尝试过 Debian
的新手一样，『如果没有心理准备，这可能会是你的电脑生涯中最痛苦的经历之一』
。不过，在安装和设定一次 Debian 系统后，他对 Debian
的速度、稳定度和一流的套件管理系统留下了深刻的印象。

【Woody Desktop Mini-CD】 Marcus Moeller [38]发表 miniwoody 1.1 版的 ISO
