【领导人选举的辩论会】 本年度 IRC 上的[4]选举[5]辩论会于03月07日举行，并有
约 100 位朋友[6]参与。在各候选人陈述了他们的主张后，会议在幽默的气氛中结束。
看来如果只有候选人能投票，而且不能投给自己的话，Martin Michlmayr 八成会当选。

the effects. Moshe Zadka stated that he would like his term (if elected)
to be remembered for establishing world-peace, although he thinks that

【Debian 于 OpenOffice.org Conference】 Chris Hall、Rene Engelhard 和
Jan-Hendrik Palic 将[8]代表 Debian 参加在03月20日及21日于德国汉堡大学举行的
[9]OpenOffice.org Conference。Chris 将于会中介绍制作 OpenOffice.org Debian
套件的程序，包含用来编制 OpenOffice.org 及将它整合进作业系统的方式。他也会
介绍制作套件时的一些重要的注意事项、小技巧、以及一些用得到□工具和资源。

【Debian 中的字型管理】 Colin Walters [10]谈到用来安装字型的 Debian
字型管理程式（Debian Font Manager，defoma），以及和它有相同功能，但却提供了
提供了应用程式更一般性的方式寻找及使用字型，并且已经有数个应用程式在使用的
fontconfig。Emile van Bergen [11]提出一个较为折衷的方式，一方面保留
defoma，另一方面则渐渐地将程式转移到 fontconfig 上。

【Debian-Installer GTK 前端程式现况】 Sebastian Ley 发了一封[12]信说明
debian-installer GTK 前端程式（frontend）的现况。开发人员已经完成将必要
的函式库制作成 udeb 的工作，不过这个程式现在还处于一个不稳定的阶段。因此
，还有很多除错的工作待完成，同时还必须构思并实作将这个 GTK 前端程式整合

【提供大家以 mbox 的形式读取通信论坛文件集】 Josip Rodin
[14]询问是否应该让大家在网页上以 mbox 的形式读取论坛文件集。这么做会让垃
圾邮件程式取得更多的资讯，有好处也有坏处：好处是因为 message-ID 的干扰，
让该程式资料库中真正有用的帐号比例会降低，坏处是这样可能会让发信人
收到许多的垃圾邮件。Santiago Vila [15]觉得这并不是个好主意，并且建议参考
Geocrawler 或 Sourceforge 的做法。Osamu Aoki（青木
修）则[16]认为这要看我们提供 mbox 的方式，他建议最好能将档案用 gzip
压缩过。

【将 PAM 政策标准化】 Sebastian Rittau [17]提到我们没有一个标准的 PAM
政策（policy）。他认为大部份套件使用 PAM 做身份验证（authentication）□方式
是错误的。这些套件会在 /etc/pam.d/ 下放一个自己的设定档，而这些设定档其实内
容都相差不多。Steve Langasek [18]提供一个加入 include 机制的范本给大家参考。

【是否符合 LSB 1.3？】 Gerhard Tonn 在 S/390 平台的 woody 上[19]执行最新的
LSB [20]验证程式。他依照 Anthony Towns [21]所述使用修改过的 glibc 和
pax。测试结果相当不错，不过在国际化（internationalization）的部份有约 50
项不合规范。这个部份是在 LSB 从 1.3 版起纳入的。会有如此结果的主要原因是相
关的[22]修正程式并没有完全被纳入 woody 中。这个问题在 sid 同样存在。

【Woody 中的 Potato 套件】 Johann Glaser [23]质疑为什么 woody（以及 sarge
和 sid）中有许多套件档都是连结到 potato
的套件档。会这么问的起因是他的映射站（mirror）中并没有包含
potato。由于一些套件从 potato 发行到现在都没有更新过，因此它们没被纳入
pool 机制中。这个情形会在 potato 被正式从档案库中移除时获得解决。

【PHPNuke 是自由软体吗？】 John Goerzen [24]怀疑， PHPNuke
授权证中额外加入□一段重要宣告（important

【无障碍环境的开发进展】 Mario Lang [29]宣布最近成立了
[30]debian-accessibility 通信论坛。这个论坛将供 Debian

【LPPL 属于自由软体授权方式吗？】 Martin Pitt 正在制作 latex-ucs

【Debian 在 CeBIT 的报导】 Alexander Schmehl 写了一篇关于 Debian 在 CeBIT
中展出的[35]报导。本年度的展出摊位是由 [36]LinuxLand
所赞助的。展出相当地成功，并且吸引了很多人驻足参观。摊位的负责人 Alexander
和 ichael 'grisu' Bramer 都相当高兴能有机会在 CeBIT 中展示 Debian
