slrn, new package (news reader)
New package: slrn
Slrn is a threaded news reader that's much faster if you happen
to have a slow link to your nntp server. Also, I like the user
interface better than tin/trn, but I guess, that's personal.
The related package, tkslrn (which provides a tk/tcl interface
to slrn), is forthcomming.
It is elf mainly because I'm lasy.
Package: slrn
Version: 0.8.4
Package_Revision: 1
Maintainer: Joost Witteveen <joostje@dds.hacktic.nl>
Description: Threaded News reader (fast for slow links)
Like all the others a nice full screen textmode user interface.
It tends to be much faster if you have a slow link to your
news server: First time you start it it reads the newsgroup file
(it will tell you how to do this), from then on startup is faster.
.
slrn reads news from a news server via NNTP (the Network News
Transfer Protocol). This news server must of cource be available.
It does not need inews (as far as I know)
.
Recommends:
Depends: libc5
