apt-get from HDD

I am having problems with apt-get accessing the archive on my CD. It is
not picking up the non-US and local directories.

The path to the Packages file is:-
However, it is omiting main from the path ^^^^
This has a rather "slink" feel to it.

It is also ignoring the local file system. Burn CDs, scan them and
everything works well.

The messages:-

:/etc/apt# apt-get update
Err file: potato/non-US Packages
  File not found
Ign file: potato/non-US Release
Ign file: potato/local Release
Failed to fetch

W: Couldn't stat source package list 'file: potato/non-US Packages'
- stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these missing files
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old
ones used instead.
