You most certainly want to use the "amd64" [0] image, and not the "ia64" [1] 
images, as Itanium processors are quite rare out there. Quoting [2]:

"Intel Itanium Architecture (formerly IA-64) is Intel's *other* 64-bit 
architecture. Itanium processors are primarily found in HP Integrity servers 
and are supported by Debian's ia64 port (http://www.debian.org/ports/ia64/). 
It is not the same as the AMD64 / Intel 64 / x86-64 chips used in PCs (…)."
