Comments/Problems:

When I try to install the debian from the linux26 image of the
netinstalle CD, I get the following error:

------------
[!!]Partition disks
No partitionable media

No partitionable media were found.
Please check that a hard disk is attached to this machine.
------------

I tried to re-do the detection (several times) and eventually got a
message asking me if y wanted to be prompted for module parameters. I
answered yes and got the following message:

------------
[.]Detect hardware
Unable to load some modules
Linux kernel modules needed to drive some of your hardware are not
available yet. Simply proceeding with the install may make these
modules available later.
------------

followed by a list of missing modules and the devices needing it:

------------
ide-scsi (Linux IDE-SCSI emulation layer)
ide-mod (Linux IDE driver)
ide-probe-mod (Linux IDE probe driver)
ide-detect (Linux IDE detection)
ide-floppy (Linux IDE-floppy)
------------

If I try a
# ls /dev/scsi

it is empty. But

# ls /dev/ide
host0

I don't think it's my CDROM (which is on /dev/cdroms), and I don't
have any other IDE device...

I tried (just in case) with the 2.4 instead of the 2.6 (linux26), but
I got the same error message.

You can find the detailed description of my computer here (although I
don't have all the listed devices):

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/mypc/?PibItemNr=PB34100102#show

My motherboard is a MSI Orion (MS-7168 Ver 0.A).
My (unique) disk is a Seagate SATA ST3200822AS.

Thanks a lot for your work, and please contact me if you need any information.

Laurent Jacob

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
