Hi, guys/ girls.
Please find attached a bug report for Etch installation.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks,
Chris.
Package: installation-reports
Debian-installer-version: <30 Sep 05 http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/daily/sparc/current/debian-testing-sparc-netinst.iso>
uname -a: <Didn't get that far. Sparc 32 SS20>
Date: <Fri Sep 30 14:13:05 BST 2005>
Method: <Net install image. Booted ok, installer started. Went for "install" boot image>
Machine: <Sun Sparc Station 20>
Processor:Not Known
Memory:256megs
Root Device: < SCSI /dev/sda1?>
Root Size/partition table: <Didn't get this far.>
Output of lspci and lspci -n:
Base System Installation Checklist:

Comments/Problems:
<Install works up until detecting CDROM drive. Obviously this isn't a hardware fault, because the CD is initially read. I re-burned the CD, in order to check the media. The CDROM failed to be recognized, and asked if I wanted to load a module from a floppy. I selected "No", as I don't have this module on a floppy. I was then asked if I wanted to load another module. I was offered sparc32 or 64. I chose 32, as my box is 32 bit. This failed to rectify the situation. This (as stated earlier) is on an Etch install. On a Sarge install, everything worked fine. The CD hardware info from the Sarge dmesg was: Compaq CRD-254V Rev 1.06.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Cheers,
Chris (christopher@jhandrew.fsnet.co.uk)>

We are closing this installation report for one of the following
reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
Installer.
- indications in the installation report give the feeling that
the reported problem waslying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful
The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.
In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.
You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.
If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.
Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
