Hmm, as usual, we may need to go back on partition sizes when the
release is closer.

You didn't mention what kind of install you were doing. Was it a
"desktop" default install? Maybe this is what you implied by GUI
install (I initially assumed you were using the graphical installer
but the latter of your mail makes me think you mean the desktop task).

It has always been this way. Should we go the Ubuntu way and disable
it by default?

(raising the question priority is probably out of question as this is
a hard to understand topic for newcomers)

No clue about all this.

Most of these are probably because of the installation of dependencies
(whatever kind of dependency).

They should be hunted down one by one to see if their installaton is
indeed reasonable and then bugs filed against the relevant
packages. If someone is looking for a good job to do, this is the
moment..:)
