Bug#548354: console-setup: Intermittent boot problems
Package: console-setup
Version: 1.45
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system
This may not be critical and it may not be the cause of the problem, but since I upgraded
xorg, and console-setup was installed I'm having persisteng boot problems. Sometimes the
boot sequence stops and a power cycle is required, sometimes it stops and a Ctrl-C will
break it. Splashy is also bust.
This may be a partial duplicate of bugs #510211.
Basically on boot Splahy starts, the progress bar fails to move and then I'm dumped
back on a traditional console. Most of the time it continues to boot until the
setting up console fonts line. If I'm lucky I can Ctrl-C out of it and it's okay,
otherwise it's reset, reboot, fsck and reboot again. It's very annoying. The system
will clean boot about one time in 5.
I can't remove console-setup without remove xorg, which I'd rather not remove.
