Are you sure that the problem is XFS? It could also be that lilo does not
support KVM's /dev/vda. That would be my first guess.
If that is the case, the next question is whether the problem is in
lilo-installer or lilo itself.
Can you repeat the installation with a 'set -x' added in lilo-installer's
postinst and send the resulting syslog?
Could you maybe also try / on XFS in an emulator (qemu, virtualbox or
vmware), i.e. on a "normal" hard disk?
