Should in theory be doable, e.g. based on /proc/bus/input (grep for
synaptics and alps), but then we should do it finish-install after
checking if X.Org is installed.

My /proc/bus/input has:
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0008 Version=7321
N: Name="AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
S: Sysfs=/class/input/input4
H: Handlers=mouse2 event4 ts2

Can you clone the BR if you agree?

Agreed.
