OK. I wasn't sure what shell features were OK to use, and I saw sed(1) used
elsewhere.

When I tried this, apt-setup writes this to syslog:

apt-setup: warning: /usr/lib/apt-setup/generators/60local returned error
code 1; discarding output

'sh -n' returns cleanly on my modified 60local, and I triple-checked the
modifications I made, since I had to type them by hand. Perhaps something in
this patch isn't playing nicely with 'set -e'?

FWIW, here's my proxy preseed configuration:

d-i mirror/http/proxy string http://172.16.5.162:8080/
